3-Day Trips
A multi-day kayaking tour in the San Juan Islands is defined by its destination, and we offer kayak trips to the two most interesting and unique places out here. The Cypress Island Biological Reserve and the Sucia Island Marine Park. Both areas are known for their great concentrations of marine life, and for the jaw-dropping scenery found there. They are also special because they do not follow the beaten path that the other San Juan Islands kayak outfitters use. While 6 or more companies per day may depart San Juan Island for a trip up to Stuart Island, we rarely see other commercial kayak companies on our trips.
Speaking of interesting marine life: over the last few years the Cypress Island trip has become the most likely trip to spot our Resident Orca whales, with multiple sightings every week. However in 2010 we were pleasantly surprised when it seemed as if nearly every trip to Sucia Island reported an Orca whale encounter!
Like all of our multi-day kayak trips, our 3-Day trips are a fully catered event and all of your kayaking and camping gear is provided. All of your meals will be tastefully prepared by your guide and, whether you are snacking on chips with fresh made pico de gallo or stuffing yourself with our “bangin’ Bahn Mi” sandwich, there will be no shortage of food. Our guides have started referring to the trips as “paddling from meal to meal”. It’s a matter of pride for them to not bring back too many leftovers, so don’t be surprised if you hear them foraging through the pots late a night! Thanks to the great contributions of our seasoned guides, and the thoughtful efforts of our “Queen Bee” Megan Schorr, Anacortes Kayak Tours has developed an amazing menu that is sure to please everyone. For many of our guests the food becomes a highlight of their trip!
Here are our two choices for 3-Day Kayaking Tours:
Cypress Island 3-Day Tour
$549 / Daily from June 1st through Labor Day Weekend
The very best value for any 3-Day kayak trip in the San Juan Islands is Cypress Island, hands down. With no San Juan Island ferry hassles to complicate your plans, a fantastic destination, and our top notch kayak guides to educate and entertain you along the way, this is by far the most convenient and rewarding multi-day kayak tour offered out here. It is also the trip that is most likely to encounter Orca whales who transit the area almost daily in the summer months.
Sucia Island 3-Day Tour
$579 / Daily from May 1st through October 11th
If you have a little extra time, and want to see one of the most coveted sea kayaking destinations, then this is your trip. It does require a short ferry ride to Orcas Island, but it allows you to launch from the closest possible access point to the Sucia Island Group. Your guides know the best places to go to see the unique rock formations that have been highly eroded into whimsical shapes, and there are always fun seal encounters to make your experience more rewarding.
What you need to know to get ready for your multi-day kayak trip!
We specialize in small group, all inclusive, multi-day sea kayak trips in the San Juans.
- On these multi-day sea kayaking expeditions we strictly adhere to a 6 guest per guide ratio. All trips larger than 6 people will have two guides.
- Groups of 5 or more guests can choose to have a private kayaking experience!
- A small sea kayaking group can move much more efficiently. We need less time attending to logistical issues like setting up or breaking camp and have more time for exploring and having fun in the San Juan Islands.
- All camping and kayaking equipment is provided, as are all meals, including lunches.
The longer multi-day sea kayaking expeditions are best suited for folks in reasonably good shape. Occasionally there is a need to make a long push to get to the next campsite and we would not want to wear anyone out on a long crossing. We actually design these trips to be a little more physically involved. 5 day trips might average 8-10 miles per day paddling.
Anacortes Kayak Tours reserves the right to change or cancel available departure dates and prices. Once you book a kayak tour with us we will run it, as long as weather conditions permit us to conduct a safe sea kayaking excursion.
On multiday kayaking trips we do have a minimum of two people to run the trip, this is a matter of safety, not economics.
Don’t hesitate to call us if you have questions or would like additional details on any of our trips.
