Slated for development over 40 years ago, Cypress Island was destined to lose it’s incredible forestlands and biological diversity until concerned citizens convinced the State of Washington to step in and purchase the land. Decades later almost 90% of this island, and the waters surrounding it, are under protection as a Natural Resource Conservation area and Marine Protected Area. Our tours respectfully travel through this area, camping at one of the two primitive campgrounds located there. This is the trip that most often encounters Orca Whales, and consistently sees an incredible amount of wildlife.
