Overnight sea kayaking to Orcas IslandSuspended for the season, we are replacing this trip with a 3 day Sucia Island adventure!
Our 3 day destination sea kayak trip to Orcas IslandSuspended for the season, replaced by our 3 day kayaking trip to Sucia Island! For a one-of-a-kind sea kayaking experience, this is your trip! We are excited to offer a unique way to travel out to a destination in the San Juan Islands. Until recently the only way to get out to the San Juans was under your own power using either winds, or a paddle. With the advent of steam driven engines, and later fuel driven engines, travel became much more efficient. With this efficiency however, something was lost. In the rush to get to their destinations visitors in motorboats miss out on many of the intimate sights, and all of the sounds that make the San Juans such a remarkable place. Now there is a way to roll back the clock and reacquaint ourselves with the serene beauty of the archipelago. Departing from the convenience of Anacortes you begin your overnight camping adventure right away. No frustrating waits in long ferry lines, you are on the water quickly and efficiently. On the first day we paddle up to Cypress Island, one of the crown jewels of the outer San Juan Islands. We'll take our time, looking for eagles roosting in the trees, listening for the tell-tale breath of Harbor porpoise foraging nearby. We will definitely want to go for a walk on some of the island's trails. The forest here is expansive, sometimes it is hard to believe that you are actually on an island.
After a restful night and a liesurely breakfast we will break camp and make our way across Rosario Strait and into the inner San Juans. Along the way we may encounter a variety of sea birds, most certainly porpoise and seals, and maybe - if we are lucky- a family of our Resident Orca whales. Camping for the second night, you will already feel the islands getting into your soul. Watching the sun setting over the western islands will get you scheming about how to buy a vacation cabin out here. On the last day we can take our time to explore the shoreline of Blakely Island before heading to our destination. Landing near the village of Eastsound in the afternoon you will be free explore Orcas Island on your own, or board a shuttle back to the ferry terminal in Orcas Village where you will catch the free ferry ride to Anacortes.
Although we will make every effort to successfully complete this trip, we are concerned with your safety first. If weather prevents us from making our destination you will be refunded the difference between this premium trip and our regular 3 day trip.

Once you book a kayak tour with us we will run it, as long as weather conditions permit us to conduct a safe sea kayaking excursion. On multi-day kayaking trips we do have a minimum of two people to run the trip, this is a matter of safety- not economics. Be wary of any outfitter making unreasonable claims of "no minimums", they may be taking a risk with your well being.
