As we start our fifteenth season, in 2018, we can hardly believe how well our tours have been received over the years. With a small fleet of sea kayaks, and the tremendous support from our guests, we feel humbled and blessed to have grown into one of the most successful kayak outfitters in Washington State.
One of the gratifying things about operating a business like ours is being able to surround ourselves with the incredible individuals who guide our trips, who welcome our guests, and who help manage the logistical needs of the company. If it weren’t for these energetic and dynamic people then we’d be just another tour business. They are the reason that we are so successful and we cannot thank them enough. We know your trip will be rewarding in no small part due to the efforts they put into their work every day.
Our commitment to raising the bar, and “redefining the standard” on guide training has created a wonderful culture within Anacortes Kayak Tours. We attract professionally minded individuals who are looking for more than just a summer job. They want to improve, grow, and learn as much as they can about being effective leaders and competent paddlers. Our training, which includes investing in professional instruction courses, many hours of open water rescue drills, and a dedication to learning the skills necessary to lead tours, is far beyond what this industry currently requires.
