Dan Walters

Dan is a Washington native with a degree in Outdoor Recreation from Western Washington University. Prior to joining the AKT team he had been working with groups in the outdoors for the past ten years including positions as a lifeguard, camp counselor, sea kayak expedition leader, high ropes facilitator and environmental educator.

No stranger to the San Juan Islands, Dan spent three summers leading groups of teenagers on multi-day sea kayak expeditions throughout the archipelago. During the summer of 2016, he kayaked the Inside Passage, beginning in Alaska and ending at Deception Pass State Park, a 3 month, 1000 mile expedition. That trip took sea kayaking to the next level for him personally in terms of planning and adapting to challenging situations. Dan loves the opportunity to continue his personal journey in sea kayaking and to increase his knowledge of the San Juan Islands and hopes to inspire others to do the same.
