Tate came out west 3 years ago to work for Anacortes Kayak Tours. Before kayaking on the sea he was instructing youth on week long kayak trips in Lake Superior's Apostle Islands. After spending one summer of guiding for AKT he couldn't get himself to leave the Pacific Northwest and now he is a permanent transplant to the Evergreen State. Tate leads trips for AKT as often as possible and works full time in Bellingham as a stone-mason.
When he doesn't have a stone hammer in his hands or his butt in a boat, you can find him hiking in the woods or reading a book at his favorite brewery. Tate loves getting out on the water with anyone from first time paddlers to seasoned veterans. He's always excited to share his knowledge of the sport and keep pushing his own limits.
